Bio
Susan Brand grew up in the spare beauty of the desert southwest, where she began to paint and draw while observing nature.
She earned a BFA from Art Center College of Design and went on to a career in Animation, Illustration, and Design in New York City.
Brand is a Natural Science Illustrator known for portraying subjects with brevity and acuity. She illustrated the cover of The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating, by Elisabeth Tova Bailey, and provided interior illustrations for Forager: Field Notes for Surviving a Family Cult: A Memoir by Michelle Dowd.
She lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island where she paints and makes prints. She is a co-host of the monthly Monotype Parties at the Salmagundi Club in New York.
